Like many people these days, I am an investor choosing to invest directly in the shares of individual companies on the stock market.
When investing in shares directly, instead of through a managed fund, I believe it is important to research a company properly before investing and to continue monitoring the company for significant changes. Much of this research involves analysing the company's reported accounting results, typically published twice per year. However, I am not an accountant and I find the multitude of tables of closely-packed figures in company reports to be difficult to read and interpret.
Wouldn't it be nice if the accounting information were presented as a set of charts instead of tables of numbers? Some companies do indeed present some of their information as charts, but may only be in the Annual Report, which is published some time after the results. Different companies may show different information in different formats. Investors need to be able to interpret the results easily soon after they become available.
For an investor, what is needed is a consistent set of charts, generated in the same format for each company so that the performance of different companies can be compared directly. This is the aim of Plc Charting.
Plc Charting provides financial charts in a consistent format for a selection of the bigger and some smaller companies on the UK Stock Market. The charts for each company are maintained and updated with the latest half-year (Interim) and full-year (Preliminary) results soon after they become available so that investors can keep up-to-date with a company's progress.
Plc Charting is a new breed of website for discerning investors.
